Been trying to change my style into something a little more…original?? I don’t know. I’ve been flip flopping between my more “disnanime” style and a more cartoony loose style. I’m trying to bring them together, I guess. In any case, I think I like it. We’ll see.
This was originally drawn on my government notes…haha

A mock CD cover I did in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop this morning for an English project. We had to create a fake CD cover to go with the book we’re reading; we had a choice of four, and mine was Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. The scene I chose to depict is from the book (except I left Janie, the main character, nude on purpose…one, she looked better that way, and two, it’s meant to be more symbolic than literal—I suppose vulerability?); in it she is sitting under a pear tree in full bloom heavy of the buzzing of bees. It’s a beautifully written scene, and the pear tree/bees actually represents sexual themes, but are prominent objects of symbolism in the book. So yep. There is my reasoning behind it XD
I drew everything except the texture, which I took from some website…

Remember this old thing?
Well, say hello to the new and improved version!!
It’s not completed yet; I’m going to trace over it in Adobe Illustrator and make it super colorful and stuff. I did the original in about an hour and a half with a mouse, and I never felt it showed my true potential… so, for the sake of my college portfolio, I’ve decided to redo it, this time starting off with a pencil sketch.
The planted seed represents one’s potential; the light bulbs represent ideas brought to fruition; and the mannequin is DATA’s mascot and the farmer.
